What is cold brew?
Cold Brewing is a way of extracting coffee using cold water. This process is much slower than brewing hot, and because of that you will find flavours that are much more gentle, naturally sweeter and less bitter.
Where does your coffee come from?
Coffee is seasonal, so at different times of the year we use different coffees. Origin info can be found on the batch of every cold brew. We source our own green coffee and have full traceability over the entire supply chain. This way we can guarantee quality and sustainability.
What is “nitro”?
Our cold brews are all “Nitro” Cold Brews. This means that we’ve infused the coffee with silky nitrogen bubbles giving it a foamy cascading texture and a real latte head.
How much caffeine is in your products?
Our Nitro Black is similar to a double shot. Nitro Latte & Nitro Mocha are similar to a single shot.
Masala Chai contains as much caffeine as a typical breakfast tea.
Do your products contain sugar?
Our products contain absolutely no added sugar! The sugars in our Nitro Latte, Nitro Mocha & Oat M*lk are naturally occurring in the oats.
Do the Minor Figures products contain lactose gluten or dairy?
All our products are 100% plant-based and therefore dairy free, naturally lactose-free and free from animal protein.
To be labelled as ‘gluten-free’ products must contain no more than 20 ppm of gluten. Our Oat Mi*k based products are not quite that low and while none of the ingredients directly contain gluten. We cannot claim they are free from gluten.
We do however have strict requirements being careful to monitor and minimise contamination. Because of this, we are able to ensure that all of our Oat Mi*k based products contain less than 100 ppm (mg/kg per product) gluten from rye, wheat and barley. This means that they are categorised as being very low in gluten (containing between 21 and 100 ppm gluten).
Why do you package your Nitro in cans?
Often the process of bottling leads to unnecessary carbon emission, by packaging our Nitro in cans we are able to sell a product that is 100% recyclable and therefore has a significantly smaller carbon footprint.
This investment in packaging is very important to us and is helping us further build on our sustainable vision.
Is your Coffee Fairtrade?
We work with a speciality trade model. It’s a pretty complex issue, but in short fair trade vs speciality are separate systems. Fairtrade is a way for guaranteeing minimum wage to the farmer. Which is a good idea, however, Fairtrade does not relate to coffee quality. The Specialty coffee model pays a premium for quality. Although no certification process, and highly subjective, it does encourage farmer and roaster to consider longer term relationship based on continuous improvement, community, sustainability, and ultimately - quality. These systems both require continuous improvement to ensure a healthy and sustainable coffee future for all.
